As of the 1st of January 2021, an update to the French Energy Code introducing monthly disclosure periods is in force. The relevant piece of law (L’Article R314-66 du Code de l’Energie) is included below. RECS International’s unofficial translation of this law is also included.

Chaque garantie d’origine ne peut être utilisée qu’une seule fois et ne peut être utilisée que dans les douze mois suivant la date de fin de la période sur laquelle porte la demande de garanties d’origine. Pour attester de la source renouvelable de l’électricité consommée, la garantie d’origine doit provenir d’une production du même mois que le mois de consommation qu’elle certifie sauf dans le cas où la production n’atteint pas le seuil du mégawattheure sur ce mois. Dans ce cas, la garantie d’origine peut certifier une période de consommation incluse dans la période de production déterminée conformément à la seconde phrase du deuxième alinéa de l’article R. 314-59.

Each guarantee of origin can only be used once and can only be used within twelve months of the end date of the period to which the request for guarantees of origin relates. To certify the renewable source of the electricity consumed, the guarantee of origin must come from production in the same month as the month of consumption that it certifies except in the case where the production does not reach the megawatt-hour threshold on this month. In this case, the guarantee of origin can certify a consumption period included in the production period determined in accordance with the second sentence of the second paragraph of article R. 314-59.
