In July 2022, the UK Government announced its decisions relating to its review of the Feed in Tariff (FIT) and Contracts for Difference (CfD) schemes’ cost exemptions for green imported electricity and timings on the removal of UK recognition of EU Guarantees of Origin (GOs).
RECS has shared its views on these matters in a previous news item.
RECS’ response was particularly focused on the UK’s recognition of EU GOs in the UK. While RECS advocated for the UK to continue to recognise EU GOs into the future, consultation only gave respondents the option of this recognition ending either on 01.10.22 or 01.04.23. We note that the UK opted, in line with RECS’ view, for the later date – ‘to allow sufficient time for industry and others impacted to make the necessary internal changes’.
