The RECS Secretariat is participating in the development of ISO standard 13659 on Book and Claim systems. This standard is being developed in conjunction with ISO 13662 on Mass Balance systems and could impact the functioning and recognition of book and claim systems, such as those used for energy attribute certification and tracking (including GOs, I-RECs, & RECs.).  

Participation in this process is currently dominated by other sectors, such as steel, wood, cotton, and chemicals and by participants who are more expert in mass balance than book and claim schemes. Therefore, RECS encourages its members and stakeholders to engage in this work through their national standards committees.
