RECS Member ECOHZ recently published a report to answer the question: ‘How much additional renewable capacity can Guarantees of Origin (GOs) finance in the European Union?’. The short answer is between 337TWh and 459TWh of yearly electricity generation in 2030. This is based on GO values of between €5.5 and €7.5 per GO, generating between €52.6bn and €71.7bn that can be leveraged to finance a significant increase in new installed renewable generation capacity.
The RECS Secretariat welcomes this report and encourages all members to develop complementary analyses that demonstrate the value and impact of renewables markets. Such evidence is particularly important during the GHG Protocol review process.
